The story of Spider Man
At
1980 I bought my first computer. It was the Philips Videopac
G7200. But my father had a problem, the box didn’t fit
in his car, a Renault 5. So we decided to leave the box at the electronics store
and take only the console with a few games.
The
next few years I was playing with games and I had a small collection.
In
1982 I was with my grandmother at the supermarket and there was a competition
with some cleaning-stuff. I filled in the paper and put it in the competitionbox. After a few months a phone-call and they
let me know that I won a Philips Videopac G7000.
Lucky me!!!! Now I was really happy and I bought Videopac
game nr. 31.
A
few years later I decide to sell most of my Videopac
stuff and I bought an MSX-computer. I didn’t sell the Philips Videopac G7200. Till now it is still working.
MSX
was much better and had many more games. I am getting more interested in the
hardware till now. The last 20 years I am very busy with repairing and extentions for MSX-computers. I also started to collect Videopac and MSX hard- and software.
But
what I like most is
to find huge lots of MSX stuff to extend my collection and ofcourse
my Videopac collection.
A
few years ago I got a phone-call from a person, an old employe
from Philips, that he had a lot of MSX-parts and he
wanted to sell everything to make more space for his new hobby.
He
always used the MSX-computer for video-editing and took all parts from the
service-point, he worked for, with him as spare-parts.
So
when I came there I saw lots of parts, so I was very happy, because I can use
all parts for repairing now. Between all those parts I found a lot of cases and
keyboards for the Philips VG8000 MSX computer. This computer is at the moment
very rare. We were talking about my collection and telling that I am still
searching for a complete one. He didn’t had that one
for me, but he had lots of spare parts for the G7000. It is not MSX, but always
interesting for repairing Videopac consoles.
I
took the box full with keyboards, cases, fire-buttons, joysticks,
power-supplies, empty cartridge prints and eproms!
When
I came home I opened the box with eproms and found
there an epromprint and about 50 eproms.
Many of the eproms were not working and most of them
were common games but a few are very special:
-
Power Lords
(maybe a Pal-version)
-
Loony Balloon
(non + version)
-
Terrahawks (non + version)
-
Spaans
(to learn Spanish
or Dutch)
-
MelRep
-
Spider Man
I
didn’t know that a few games were never released and I didn’t find anything on
the Internet.
I
sent a few emails to some Videopac websites and then
I know these games are never released.
I have wait a few years, so I am sure that I am the only owner of a complete version of Spider Man including the intro.

Now
it is time to make copies of this game and the date of release is 9 april 2006 at the Retro Computer Meeting in Schiedam (The Netherlands).
After
the Retro Computer Meeting in Schiedam all copies were sold.
Because there were still people asking for a copy, I
decided to make Spider Man 2nd Edition.
Spider Man 2nd Edition has a new cover. Also the carts do not have a personal number.

26
november 2006 Spider Man 2nd Edition will be released
at the Retro Computer Meeting In Schiedam.
